MORE TIME TO CARE?
PROJECT: Rigshospitalet, Research and Innovation
PROduct: UX/UI app DESIGN
CHALLENGE
When neuro-intensive care patients are in a waking-up state, a nurse must constantly monitor them to ensure they are not alone when waking up, as this both can be a scary and potentially dangerous situation for the patient. At Rigshospitalet we asked: Can we create a smarter and safer solution that gives nurses more time to focus on what really matters: caring for their patients.
PROCESS
Rigshospitalet Research and Innovation helped shape the product design by focusing on pin pointing the the right problems and addressing the important needs of its users. This involved a thorough investigation of user needs and collaborative workshops with software developers and clinicians to align on solutions. An "Innovation Lab" was created Prototypes were continuously tested in a dedicated "Innovation Lab" in the neuro center to ensure the product evolved in the right context.
OUTCOME
The solution is a monitoring system detecting subtle movements that might indicate a patient is about to wake up. When these movements are detected, clinicians receive an instant alert on a connected app, so they can be in the room when the patient wakes up. With this technology, clinicians can feel reassured and supported, enabling them to focus entirely on their patients with a peace of mind.
